A DELTA Air Lines plane rolled off a taxiway at Atlanta's busy airport today causing significant damage to the jet, myFOXatlanta.com reported.

No passengers were on board when the incident occurred at around 5am local time on the east side of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen said.

The Boeing 737 aircraft's engines were being tested by two maintenance workers on board when the jet's braking system failed and it rolled off Taxiway E, Delta spokesman Eric Torbinson told WSBTV.

Neither worker was injured, Torbinson added.

Video aired by WAGA-TV showed the jet tilted to one side on an embankment, resting on its right wing and belly, with its other wing high in the air.

Traffic was not impeded at the airport, although the taxiway in question was closed until further notice.
