Air Berlin (AB/BER) , operatorul care detine 40% din piata germana, a devenit, de marti, membra a Oneworld.
Ceremonia a avut loc la Berlind Brandemburg care va fi noua "casa" a AB.
Totodata subsidiara din Austria a AB, Niki (HG/NLY) a devenit "affiliate member" a Oneworld.
Prin intrarea AB in Oneworld, aceasta alianta aproape si-a triplat prezenta in Germania , ajungand la 25 de destinatii deservite.
AB a transportat in 2011 aprox 35 milioane de pasageri in 40 de tari ale lumii (162 de destinatii).
AirBerlin devine al 11-lea membru cu drepturi depline al aliantei "controlate" de IAG (British Airways + Iberia).

airberlin dubleaza zborurile pe ruta Berlin – Budapest din Mai 2012

Din 6 Mai 2012, airberlin, creste frecventa pe ruta Berlin Tegel – Budapest de la 7/7 la 14/7, astfel compania adauga un zbor de seara tarziu de la Berlin si una de dimineata devreme de pe Budapesta.

Conform ultimelor verificari, airbelin a mai adaugat cateva destinatii, prin codeshare cu ETIHAD. "AB" apare acum pe destinatii ETIHAD cum ar fi Australia, Pakista, Sri Lanka si altele din Orientul Mijlociu.

Air Berlin anunta zboruri de la Berlin la Bucuresti:

Într-un comunicat remis azi cu privire la unele schimbari strategice AB anunta printre altele mutarea zborurilor Flyniki VIE-OTP la BER din vara anului viitor. De asemenea Flyniki va trece la o flota de Airbus renuntând la Embraer:

More holiday flights from Vienna

While remaining at a total of 23 planes, the NIKIi fleet will be standardised to operate only Airbus aircraft. This total concentration on Airbus will increase the number of seats available on existing routes. The route network from Vienna will be expanded on the one hand by extending the range of services to new tourist destinations in Greece, such as Kalamata, Karpathos, Kavala, Lesbos and Volos, and on the other hand by increasing the frequency of flights to existing destinations in Egypt, Spain or Turkey.

In addition airberlin is promoting its Eastern European services from its hub in the German capital. As a result the services from Vienna to Sofia, Bucharest and Belgrade will no longer be offered as non-stop flights from Vienna as of summer 2013, but increasingly transferred to Berlin.

In summer 2013 passengers will have a choice of nine destinations in Eastern Europe (Warsaw, Krakow, Gdansk, Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Budapest, Sofia, Bucharest) from Berlin. The airline will also be offering non-stop flights to Riga, the Latvian capital, in conjunction with its codeshare partner airBaltic.

Da se pare ca Airberlin isi concentreaza zborurile si maresc frecventele Transatlantice in general catre huburile American Airline in Chicago, New York, Miami, Los Angeles. Au anuntat ca vor vor abandona de anul viitor Vancouver, San Francisco, Las Vegas (seasonal holiday charters). Pe undeva este normal sa consolideze Berlinul ca hub Transatlantic, desi parasind Viena s-ar putea sa piarda piata din sud-estul Europei. Nu ca ar fi avut ei o bucata prea mare dar probabil ca vor sa-si alinieze preturile la nivelul "ONE WORLD", in timp ce situatia economica din sud-estul Europei la ora aceasta dicteaza exclusiv preturi "low low low cost".

Au vindut 70% din firma care ruleaza programul catre Etihad. E un fel de face keeping. Etihad a declarat ca nu va investi alti bani in Air Berlin, ei inca au nevoie de cash pe perioada restructurarii, substanta nu prea mai au majoritatea flotei fiind in sale&lease back. Asa au gasit o varianta sa 'vinda' ceva pt a face rost de fonduri. Ca sa ai o idee, AB are pierderi acumulate de ca. 850 mil euro.
 
da ... Etihad le-a dat bani (185 mil daca retin bine) pe probabil sigurul asset cu o oarecare valoare (datele clientilor fideli cu preferinte de zbor etc.)

În rest AB din pacate e la marginea prapastiei ... cu banii atia va resista ceva vreme, dar sunt destul de sceptic daca vor reusi o restructurare/resuscitare adevarata ...
 
Asseturi au mai avut, dar si le-au distrus. Niki a fost de la inceput o perla, au avut profit operational inca din primul an de functionare. Cel putin datele pina la preluarea completa aratau un profit operational de 8-9% in fiecare an, ceea ce e pt industria asta exceptional. Acum practic au integrat Niki in AB, renuntind inclusiv la identitatea brandului. Pina la urma marul putred care a fost LTU a stricat tot.
 
Sigur ca da, m-am exprimat eu gresit ... vroiam sa spun ultimul asset ce le MAI ramasese.

Si da, preluarea LTU, care cred ca pe lânga ratiuni economice a fost probabil si o ambitie personala a lui Hunold (ca doar era compania unde fusese înainte) le-a cam depasit posibilitatile.

Nici macar marca Air Berlin cel putin în Germania nu mai valoreaza foarte mult, perceptia aici este (spre deosebire de trecut) ca este o companie cu probleme ...
 
Raminind la piata germana, cred ca marea lor problema pina azi este ca au vrut sa fie in acelasi timp si un pic de Lufthansa si un pic de Condor si ceva Ryanair. Au crezut ca doar prin marime pot deveni profitabili dar in acelasi timp nu au facut nimic sa foloseasca efectele de scara si partile sanatoase din business.

Devansarea curselor TXL-OTP este defapt devansarea partiala a hub-ului, deoarece în aceeasi zi FlyNiki înceteaza operarea VIE-OTP.

Ce sa zic ... pentru OTP si SOF hubul nou TXL (si ... poate ... cândva ... BER ;D ...) este prost pozitionat.

În consecinta mai degraba ma astept pe termen mediu la cifre în scadere si renuntarea operarii OTP.
 
Daca e sa ne luam dupa operarea cu 319, nu cred. Niki folosea EMB. Ceea ce noi inca nu stim e de unde vor sa isi aduca pax. As specula spre NW Europei, neavind aici concurenta P2P din partea Norvegian de ex.
